"It's an ill wind..."

Born into WW1, Dorothy has a bleak childhood under the iron fist of an implacable mother and the silent compliance of a browbeaten father.

Her escape is achieved just before the disastrous advent of Hitler, and there is further tragedy to come.

Follow her through childhood and adolescence, then on into her twenties when, finally made whole, she wins her own battle for freedom, for love and for her own place in the world.

I really wanted to like "Dorothy's War" by Ruth Hamilton based on the reviews that were posted but I just couldn't get into book. The storyline sounded interested but I couldn't stick with. She may favorite with other Amazon reader but this book was just not for me.

Found this story at times a bit hard to follow, as each chapter was either in the present or in the past. I finished the book, but found I had to concentrate hard on the story.
