  • By Mr. D. Dingwall on 20 May 2005

William C. Dietz continues the universe of "The Legion of the Damned" with his take on the Boxer Rebellion.Recommended to readers of previous Legion books, and historians of China c1900.Lieutenant Santana has a past history of ignoring direct orders and is posted to the Legion outpost on the distant Rim planet of LaNor.The Confederacy of Sentient Beings has restricted military technology to rifles, mortars, and Trooper IIs. Back to foot-slogging soldiery, with scheming star nations, a local Empress desperate to be adored, a missionary outpost in trouble, and as you might expect - a violent local uprising. Can Santana survive the politics, hypocricy, and back-biting fellow officers? Oh, and the diplomats, don't forget the diplomats, he wishes he can.....
